Actor Karthi has officially teamed up with director Kalyan Shankar for a new Tamil-Telugu bilingual film that is already generating strong buzz among South Indian cinema audiences. The project, tentatively titled #Karthi30, stars Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead and is being backed by Sithara Entertainments.
The makers shared an update on the film on Karthi’s birthday, revealing that shooting is progressing at a brisk pace. Production reportedly began recently with a grand pooja ceremony in Hyderabad, where the cast and crew officially launched the project.
The collaboration has attracted attention largely because it brings together two very different creative energies. Karthi is known for balancing emotionally grounded performances with commercial entertainers, while Kalyan Shankar gained popularity for his youthful and energetic storytelling style through films like MAD. Industry observers believe the combination could result in a fresh mainstream entertainer with a strong crossover appeal.
According to reports circulating within industry circles, the film may explore a superhero-style concept, making it a relatively unusual project in contemporary Tamil and Telugu commercial cinema. While the makers have not officially confirmed plot details yet, speculation around the genre has already increased curiosity among fans.
The film is also significant because it marks Karthi’s deeper expansion into the Telugu market through a simultaneous bilingual production. Sources close to the production say the team is currently filming key sequences, with the first-look poster and official title expected to be unveiled soon. With a popular star, a rising director, and a large-scale bilingual setup coming together, the project has already become one of the more anticipated films currently in production.
